Restaurant "Fiamma" of Charlotte Review

The word "Fiamma" translates in English means fire. If write it in Chinese character, it is 火。Fiamma restaurant located on the Park Road Shopping Square which is a modest shopping location. Please do not judge the restaurant from the outside appearance.Once you walk inside, you will feel you were in Italy.

The interior wall painted with soft Parma yellow. The color makes you feel warm and welcome. The neat table setting just like at restaurant in Italy but it is hard to find today in America. Each table is covered by white and well ironed table cloth. Napkins are folded on the white plate. The silverware and wine glass are set elegantly for each future guest. Small but comfortable chair makes you exactly feel like in a restaurant on any street of any town in Italy.

I always enjoy a quiet meal and picked a corner table. While I was reading menu, Yoshi, a very friendly waiter, brought to me a basket of focaccia and grissini with are small bow of pesto. Focaccia was just out of the oven. It was warm and testy. With well made pesto (fresh basil, garlic and olive oil) on the top of a piece of focaccia, it is really a good start of an Italian meal.

I ordered a cauliflower soup. The is a modern twist of the soup of the day. Meshed cauliflower with cream with fried baby artichoke, lobster and unknown baby vegetables on the top. The soup portion is very large. Enjoy!

I did not order the secondo. I only order the primo. My stomach is not big enough to hold both primo and secondo at Fiamma.

I ordered Tagliolini alla Zafrano ($$) which is a plate of home made saffron tagliolini pasta served with fresh crabmeat sauteed in tomato sauce. The tagliolini were soft and fresh. The tomoto sauce and crabmeat teste were well absobeted into the tagliolini. It was a well made dish.

Fiamma restaurant is a pearl in Charlotte.
